"I learnt some new things and gained employment": Siraj's Story

Our pre-employment training course in Warehousing is designed to introduce the basic principles of working in this industry, with an accredited qualification available for all learners on completion to help boost their employability.

Each learner also has access to further support provided by our progressions team to help them move into full-time employment on completion of their training.

One learner who recently completed the course is Siraj from Oldham in Greater Manchester.

Siraj's story

Siraj enrolled on our Warehousing training course to develop his understanding of working in this industry, and gain an accredited qualification to boost his overall employability.

Having previously gained his A Levels, he then found that he was struggling to find suitable employment in his local area, and didn’t have any relevant training or qualifications to help him pursue a role working within express logistics or warehousing.

He told us about the support he received from his tutor while on the course, and the new things he learnt while completing his training with us.

My tutor (Mark) was really good and was there to answer any questions and would take me into a breakout room when needed to offer further support.

It was also nice to learn some new things about health and safety, such as what PPE is. I enjoyed collaborating with the others on the course as well.

Better prepared

Siraj also told us how the knowledge and new skills he gained on the course has better prepared him for employment in this industry.

I had never worked in a Warehouse before, so I learnt important things about health and safety like PPE and all the things I needed to wear, like safety boots, gloves and high viz. I have learnt important things about Warehousing that is helping me in my new job.

Employment gained

Not only did Siraj successfully complete the course and gain an accredited Level 1 Certificate in Supply Chain & Logistics to add to his CV, but he also gained employment following completion of the course.

He told us more about his new role, and how happy he is to be working for his new employer.

I gained employment with a large express delivery company. I work with supermarket and other consumer products that I pick and give to the loading bays, where they then get sent off to stores. It is a large, professional company with nice facilities and good colleagues, so I am happy working there.
