Our Networking & Cybersecurity course is designed to help learners develop and extend their digital and IT skills to prepare for different roles in network support and digital design.

On completion of the course, each learner receives an industry-recognised Level 3 qualification in Networking & Cybersecurity.

One learner who recently completed the course is Abdulmalek from Uxbridge, who had previously completed a Level 2 qualification in Digital & IT Skills with us before enrolling on this course.

Supportive learning environment

Abdulmalek told us his reasons for enrolling on the course, beginning with an explanation as to why he chose to continue his training with us, before elaborating on the teaching style of his tutors and the way in which the course was delivered.

I chose Back2Work to complete my course because I had a great experience with them while completing my Level 2 Diploma in Digital and IT Skills. The course was well-structured, and the support provided by the tutors was excellent, making the learning process smooth and enjoyable.

What impressed me the most was the collaborative approach to teaching. The tutors not only delivered the content effectively, but also encouraged active participation, discussions, and problem-solving, which helped me understand the material in depth. This approach made the learning environment engaging and interactive, creating a sense of community among learners.

Engaging and rewarding experience

Abdulmalek also described what he enjoyed most about the course, and how the mixture of theory and practical-based learning benefited both him and his fellow learners.

What I enjoyed most about the course was the full-time structure, running five days a week, which gave me the feeling of being in a real work environment. This schedule created a sense of routine and professionalism, making the course feel like a simulation of a real-life job.

I also thoroughly enjoyed the practical exercises and problem-solving tasks, particularly those focused on network configuration and troubleshooting. These hands-on activities allowed me to apply theoretical knowledge in a practical context, which was both engaging and rewarding.

Additionally, I loved the project management exercise, as it provided a realistic experience of working on collaborative tasks and managing responsibilities within a team. This exercise not only mirrored real-world scenarios but also strengthened my organisational and teamwork skills, which are essential for my career. Overall, the combination of structure, practical learning, and real-life simulations made the course both enjoyable and highly valuable for my professional growth.

Advice for others

As well as reflecting on his overall experience on the course, Abdulmalek also offered some words of advice for others who may be thinking of enrolling on the Level 3 Networking & Cybersecurity course, and provided some insights on what to expect.

Be ready to commit, as this is a full-time programme that feels like a real job. The structure is intensive, so staying organised and managing your time effectively is essential.

Brush up on basic IT and networking concepts before starting. Understanding topics like IP addresses and cybersecurity threats will give you a strong foundation. Engage fully in the practical exercises, as they prepare you for real-world scenarios and are the most valuable part of the course.

Don’t hesitate to ask questions. The collaborative environment is supportive, and reaching out to tutors or classmates will help deepen your understanding. Finally, come with a growth mindset and be open to learning new skills, even if some concepts feel challenging at first. With dedication and focus, this course can set you on a successful path in cybersecurity and networking.

Next steps

Addulmalek concluded his feedback by revealing his next steps in his career progression, and explained how he now feels much more confident in pursuing a career within IT and cybersecurity.

After completing this course, I feel highly confident in progressing in my career. The knowledge and practical skills I’ve gained, particularly in cybersecurity and networking, have prepared me for real-world challenges.

The hands-on experience with network troubleshooting, configuring systems, and managing projects has strengthened my technical abilities, while the collaborative learning environment has improved my teamwork and communication skills.

I also feel confident in applying for cybersecurity and networking positions, as the course has equipped me with a solid foundation and the ability to keep learning and adapting in this dynamic field. With the skills and confidence gained, I’m ready to take the next steps toward building a successful career.

Congratulations again Abdulmalek, and the very best of luck in your future career!
