The Restart Scheme in Manchester is a government initiative providing up to 12 months of enhanced support to help local residents find a job in their local area.

It is designed to break down any employment barriers that could be holding them back from finding work.

During the scheme, participants can access additional training and re-skilling opportunities, as well as a package of holistic support.

The team also helps all participants to apply for vacancies suitable to their requirements, as well as providing a wide range of further benefits, such as a modern learning environment fully equipped with job searching facilities.

One participant who recently received our support as part of the programme is Ana from Manchester.

Ana's story

Ana arrived on the Restart Scheme with a deep passion for beauty and nails, but had never considered turning her hobby into a professional career.

With the support and encouragement of the Restart team and her Key Support Advisor, she began taking small steps, teaching herself nail art techniques and enrolling in courses to enhance her skills.

Our team supported Ana to gain the confidence in herself to launch her own business, which she has now successfully set up and is thriving as a self-employed business owner.

We caught up with Ana’s advisor, Stacey, to find out more about Ana’s journey to self-employment with our support and guidance.

I inherited Ana as a participant from a previous advisor. As her confidence grew, Ana started developing a business plan. Recognising her dedication, we were able to help fund professional support from Momentic to help bring her vision to life.

Ana worked tirelessly to launch her business, and through participant funding, we were able to assist her in purchasing essential items such as skincare products and spa treatments, totalling over £1,000.

Today, Ana Mendes Beauty and Nails is a thriving business offering facials, nail art, ear piercings, waxing, hot stone massages, and soon, full-body massage, aromatherapy, and reflexology. With a growing client base, Ana finds great joy in promoting health and wellness through her services. She is deeply grateful for the support provided by B2W, which helped turn her dream into reality.

Thanks to the support of our team, Ana continues to thrive as a business owner, where she also helps to support and empower other women through wellness and beauty treatments.

Support from the Restart Scheme

As part of the Restart Scheme, each participant is provided with a dedicated Restart Scheme Advisor, who will support them to access the wide range of  services and support that we have available. This also incudes arranging appointments to stay in touch at least every two weeks, with regular face to face and in-person meetings.
