Our Principles of Management & Leadership course is designed to help you prepare for managerial roles, by introducing you to the key responsibilities that come with management.

As part of the course, you’ll complete a series of units that relate directly to the skills, knowledge and behaviours expected for a management role. This includes learning about objective setting, allocating work and communicating effectively, as well as how to handle conflict and manage your own self development.

On completion of the course, you’ll receive an accredited CMI Level 3 qualification in Principles of Management & Leadership.

One learner who recently completed the course is Judell from Widnes, who took some time out to reflect on her experience while on the course and shares her thoughts with us below.

Gaining new skills

Judell first told us her main reason for enrolling on the CMI Principles of Management and Leadership course, and how this will aid her search for a new role as she looks to progress in her career.

I chose to complete this course with Back2Work to attain a new qualification that will boost my CV and learn the skills needed to manage and lead a team when required in my career progression.

Enjoyable experience

Judell also expanded on what elements of the course she most enjoyed, as well as the modules she successfully completed and the biggest learnings she took from her time with us.

The length of the course was great, and the tutor (Suzanne) was clear and disciplined, delivered the topics confidently using audio and visual tools, and the group itself was engaging and supportive.

I enjoyed the skills assessment, improving my confidence using digital tools, researching other professional bodies and associations, as well as enhancing my knowledge of GDPR & the Data Protection Act and The Health and Safety Act.

I also enjoyed hearing people's stories and experiences while on the course, as well as the tutor who was incredibly patient and sincere.

Advice for others

She also shared her reasons why she would recommend the course to others, as well as offering some practical advice for anyone thinking of enrolling for themselves.

I would say that this course is beneficial if you are looking to take on a career progression in management and leadership and improve your knowledge.

The course requires a dedicated amount of time for research and confidence using a computer/laptop. You should also ensure to make arrangements to sit in a quiet area with no distractions as you are required to keep your camera on at all times for safeguarding reasons.

Make every effort to share ideas to keep it interactive, be positive and prepared to take on feedback and listen.

Next steps

Not only did Judell gain valuable insights and skills to take forward in her pursuit of a career working in a management role, but she also gained an accredited CMI Level 3 Diploma in Principles of Management & Leadership to boost her overall employability and add to her CV. She concluded her feedback by revealing her next steps, getting back into full time employment as soon as possible.

Congratulations again Judell, and the very best of luck in your future management career!
