Our Health & Social Care / Teaching Assistant pre-employment training course is designed for those who wish to pursue a career working in Health & Social Care, with a specific focus on working with young people with learning difficulties and disabilities.

The course provides learners with three industry accedited qualifications on completion on completion of their training.

One learner who recently completed the course is Leah from Lancaster, who successfully gained a Level 2 Certificate in Understanding Children & Young People’s Mental Health, as well as a Level 2 Award in Customer Service in Health & Social Care Settings.

Not only that, but Leah also gained a Level 2 Award in Digital & IT Skills, which introduced her to new and emerging technologies and gained new digital skills to add to her CV.

In this short blog, Leah provides feedback on her overall learning experience with us, as well as highlighting what she enjoyed most about the course she completed.

Enjoyable and beneficial experience

Leah enrolled on our Health & Social Care/Teaching Assistant training course to develop her understanding of working in this industry, and gain accredited, relevant qualifications to boost her overall employability.

Having spent a significant time being unemployed, she wanted to pursue a career working with young people and explained how this course benefited her with her career aspirations, as well as providing new skills in digital and IT in the process.

What I enjoyed most about this course is learning in deeper detail about specific learning difficulties (SLDs), and it has opened my eyes to seeing how children and adults with SLDs think of the world from their perspective.

I gained a better understanding of individuals with these difficulties and disabilities, and also gained a greater understanding of new and emerging digital technologies and have a greater understanding of the British values that go alongside working with children in schools or nurseries.

Increased confidence

Leah also told us how the course led to her gaining new and relevant skills to work within Health & Social care settings, as well as an increased confidence in herself, with a desire to get back to full time employment. She also praised her Tutor, who supported Leah and her fellow learners throughout the course.

My tutor was amazing, she was very supportive and any questions that needed answering she made sure we understood what we were doing and explained in great detail what needed to be done.

I now feel more confident in group work, and feel more comfortable to be able to present a leaflet and presentation and am very confident I can meet my deadlines. I also have more knowledge and understanding of what it takes to now be a Teaching Assistant, and this has made me feel more confident to want to be back at work.

Congratulations again Leah, and the very best of luck in your future career!
