Level 2 Diploma in Digital & IT Skills: Michelle's Story

As part of our Digital Bytesize course, the Digital & IT Skills Level 2 Diploma is designed to introduce the basic principles of IT technical support, cybersecurity, computer programming and more.

Each learner receives an accredited Level 2 Diploma upon completion of the course, with further support provided by our progressions team to help them move into full-time employment.

One learner who recently completed the course is Michelle from Oxford.

Michelle's story

Michelle enrolled on our Digital & IT Skills course to develop her understanding of modern technology, gain new digital skills and an accredited qualification to boost her overall employability.

She told us how the course surprised her in terms of the knowledge she gained.

I chose this course to help me understand and get an overview of what I did and didn't know, and to demystify all things about digital. I have worked through the digital changes and I feel like I've been asleep for 30 years and just woke up!

I believe these skills should be brought into the workplace and be classed as "basic" skills everyone should have.

Practical experience & advice for others

Michelle also told us more about her experience on the course, and one of the benefit of the practical experience she gained from completing her training. She also explained what her advice would be for others wishing to join the course.

I really loved the practical side of the course and learning about all the free tools that are available to help me continue to develop my digital skills.

My advice to others who may wish to enrol on this course is to just do It! Make sure you stay "in the room" and focus on what you are being taught.

Next steps

Not only did Michelle successfully complete the course and gain an accredited Level 2 Diploma to add to her CV, but she also gained vital experience and digital skills to help her pursue a career in this industry. She told us how she now plans on pursuing more training to advance her knowledge further after completing the course.

I'm now looking to pursue further training opportunities and courses in this area. I feel I probably now understand more than the majority, or am at least in a better position to find out more using the various online resources and tutorials I've been shown on this course.
