Get started in all things digital and design with our fully funded Web Design & Creative Skills course.

As part of our Digital Bytesize course, the Creative Skills pathway will provide you with an introduction to the digital sector, with a particular focus on website creation and games development.

During this accredited online course, you’ll gain relevant and valuable digital skills, as well as knowledge and an insight into design and gaming development.

We’ll also support you into relevant progression routes such as apprenticeships, bootcamps and employment after you’ve completed the course.

This web design course will be delivered in a virtual classroom, so you will need access to a laptop/computer with an internet connection to complete the course.

You will also complete employability modules designed to help you market yourself for your future career.

RECOGNISED QUALIFICATIONS

COURSE CONTENT & KEY UNITS

As part of the Creative Skills pathway, you’ll complete the following key units over the five-week duration of the course:

In this first unit, you will learn about photography materials, techniques and processes, and be able to generate ideas for and produce photographic images and review photography work.

In this unit, you will learn about the digital skills needed to use photo editing software for a specific purpose and adjust, modify and prepare digital images to meet requirements.

In the Games Design & Development unit, you’ll develop your understanding of the design procedures to follow when creating different types of games, which are recognised as essential skills in many creative industries.

In this unit, you’ll be introduced to the basic principles of programming, which will enable you to create, design and develop an online game.

In this unit, you’ll learn about techniques and tools used in interactive media, products used, and learn digital skills to enable you to be able to generate ideas for and plan your own interactive media product.

This unit will focus on the basic principles of designing and developing a working website. You’ll be introduced to essential programming and coding techniques to successfully build your own website.

In this final unit, you’ll complete a digital skills project using your understanding of basic programming principles, culminating in a finished game.

This unit will provide you with a robust introduction to all sectors within creative industries. You’ll also explore the different job roles available, types of employment and job opportunities that are available. Your tutor will also provide you with guidance on the different methods of job searching and how to link your new digital skills to certain roles.

  • Good standard of Maths and English
  • Good communication skills
  • Committed and willing to learn
  • Eligible to work within the UK
