Higher Level Skills

Pursue a career working with and supporting vulnerable people with an industry accredited Level 3 certificate.

Our Level 3 Information, Advice & Guidance (IAG) course is designed to introduce you to a career working in IAG services, with a key focus on the delivery of skills and careers advice, customer service and assistance for vulnerable people.

IAG services play a crucial part in our society, and help individuals to address and overcome their barriers to learning, and support them in making realistic and well-informed choices.

As part of this course, you’ll complete several units that cover a wide range of skills needed for roles within IAG services.

The course is delivered  in a virtual classroom, so you will need access to a laptop/computer with an internet connection to complete the course.

On completion of the course, you’ll receive an industry-recognised Level 3 qualification in Information, Advice & Guidance.

RECOGNISED QUALIFICATION

COURSE CONTENT & KEY UNITS

As part of the course, you’ll complete the following seven key units:

The aim of this unit is to give you an insight into the concept of IAG as well as the policies and procedures that need to be followed when administering IAG, including equality and diversity, and data protection.

In this unit, you will consider the range of media and resources that can be used when offering IAG to learners. 

The aim of this unit is to help you to understand the information needs of clients, and how to access information and plan progression routes with clients.

This unit focuses on the importance of working with operational standards, and of monitoring feedback when working within those parameters.

This unit aims to help you understand the role of, and need for, networks when offering IAG.

In this unit, you will be given the opportunity to put the skills you have learned into practice by completing some role-plays and observations.

This final unit will focuses on making you aware of your own objectives as an employee, and of your organisation’s objectives – and creating and
following action plans in order to achieve those objectives.

  • Age 19+
  • Unemployed
  • Good standard of Maths and English
  • Good communication skills
  • Committed and willing to learn
  • Eligible to work within the UK
